The “Spring 2023 Coastal Cleanup” will take place at the Beach next to Avenida de Cinco de Outubro, Coloane on Saturday, March 11.
ABOUT THE ACTIVITY:
Let us join hands together again this March 11, 2023 for a coastal cleanup in Coloane! Your valuable participation will have a significant positive impact in making our coasts cleaner and oceans safer.
This important activity is organized within the context of the following projects at ISE:
1) “Wetland ecosystems: a nature-based solution for coastal protection and plastic pollution entrapment in Macao” which aims to assess plastic pollution along Macao’s coastal environment, as well as investigate the role of wetland ecosystems as a nature-based solution for coastal defense and plastic pollution entrapment, through scientific research and community outreach; and
2) “PlastiFish: Methods, effects and risk analysis of microplastics in fish production” which aims to determine levels of contamination with micro(nano)plastics on two distinct ecosystems, Macau, China (tropical/high anthropogenic inputs) and Algarve, Portugal (temperate/low anthropogenic input), their role as a vehicle for emerging chemical pollutants and physiological consequences in marine organisms.
