The University of Saint Joseph attended the 2023 Times Higher Education Innovation and Impact Summit with the theme “Universities and cities: Advancing sustainable innovation” held in Shenzhen, China, on 7 – 8 November.
On 7 – 8 November 2023, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) attended the “2023 Times Higher Education Innovation and Impact Summit” in Shenzhen, China. The Summit was jointly organised by the Times Higher Education and the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), with the theme “Universities and cities: Advancing sustainable innovation.”
Representatives from USJ at the event included Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, Head of the Department of Business Administration, Prof. Alexandre Lobo, and Ms. Chan Kit Ieng, Senior Officer of the International Affairs Office.
The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings is the only global university ranking based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). USJ, having been listed in THE for three consecutive years, has been recognised for its ability to adapt to societal and global development, as well as its contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals framework. The summit’s theme “Universities and cities: Advancing sustainable innovation” focused on exploring how universities can create and sustain innovation hub cities and interpret the relationship and importance between universities, technological innovation, and social sustainability.
USJ views its participation in this summit as highly meaningful and intends to continue contributing to the construction of a sustainable and impactful future through exchange and mutual learning with other higher education institutions.
