The Canon Law Public Lecture II “On the Reform of the Roman Curia (Apostolic Constitution Predicate Evangelium)” will take place on Thursday, 21 November in the Paço Episcopal Auditorium, Largo da Sé, Macau.
About the Talk:
In the Christmas greetings to the Roman Curia in 2016, Pope Francis listed the principles that would inspire the desired reform of the Roman Curia that took effect through the Apostolic Constitution Praedicate Evangelium (2022). This lecture aims to make known the structure of this new Apostolic Constitution and explain its main novelties and contributions to the life of the Universal Church.
About the Speaker:
Fr. João Vergamota, from the Patriarchate of Lisbon (Portugal), was born in 1982. After theological and canonical studies in Lisbon, he finished his doctorate in canon law in San Damaso University (Madrid, Spain). Fr. Vergamota is currently director of the Superior Institute of Canon Law, at the Catholic University of Portugal, and professor at this Institute and at the Faculty of Law of the same University, promoter of justice and defender of the bond at the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Lisbon, and parish vicar on the outskirts of Lisbon.
