Public Lecture | Jonathan Edwards and Bernard Lonergan on Religion
25
Nov
The Public Lecture “Jonathan Edwards and Bernard Lonergan on Religion”, will take place on November 25 in the Conference Room of the USJ Seminary Campus.
About the Talk:
Like other contemporary disciplines, the academic study of religion(s) also has long lists of disputations for its development. This presentation will concern itself with the internalization or personalization issues of religion(s) as living organisms. In so doing, it attempts to explore Jonathan Edwards’ and Bernard Lonergan’s concerns regarding religion(s). It tries to sketch their perspectives, which might point to a relatively large number of resemblances rather than differences. It especially finds common ground linking the perspectives of both religious thinkers, consistently focusing on internal dimensions: the sense of the religious heart and distortions marking personal and communal religious experiences for the in-depth study of living religious life.
