Cheong highlighted findings about electric vehicle (EV) battery performance, dispelling myths about rapid degradation during the 4th Green Energy and Smart Transportation Forum held earlier this month.
Cheong Chi Man, an Master of Business Administration student at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) under the supervision of Prof. Alessandro Lampo from the Faculty of Business and Law, contributed to the 4th Green Energy and Smart Transportation Forum, held at the Venetian Macau in November. The forum, hosted by Nam Kwong International Convention and Exhibition Co., Ltd. and Sustaincia.org brought together industry leaders, experts, and students to discuss the future of green transportation and promote sustainable development in Macao.
Key Research Insights
Cheong highlighted findings about electric vehicle (EV) battery performance, dispelling myths about rapid degradation. Cheong said “research shows that Tesla Model 3 batteries from 2019 lost only 0.3% of capacity after a year of use”. He emphasised the potential of these findings to boost confidence in the used EV market if accurate battery health information is made widely available.
Cheong also addressed Macau’s EV charging infrastructure challenges, emphasising the need for safety and convenience. He called for adopting international safety standards, particularly for underground parking lots, to mitigate fire risks and improve user experience. “Legislation, safety, and land use must be integrated into the development of Macao’s charging infrastructure to foster sustainable transportation,” he noted.
Forum Highlights
The event analysed Macao’s current transportation landscape and explored new energy vehicle industry trends. The forum provided cutting-edge insights to enhance the adoption of new energy vehicles in Macao with five sessions on green transportation investments, urban design, and the EV market.
The forum featured diverse experts, including leaders from PwC China, the Macau Motor Vehicle Importers Association, and other notable organisations.
Cheong’s insights contribute to the broader mission of building a green transportation ecosystem in Macao.
