Coach Andrew Wong Leads the USJ Basketball Team to Compete in the Malaysia Basketball International Invitation 2024

USJ basketball coach and the head coach of the Macao national men’s basketball team, Andrew Wong, leads team to the Malaysia Basketball International tournament 2024.



To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, MABA held the Malaysia Basketball International Invitation 2024 from 22 to 27 October at the MABA Indoor Stadium. This event featured four representative teams from China and four top elite teams from Malaysia’s professional leagues competing against each other.

As a member of the Macau delegation competing in the tournament in Malaysia, Andrew Wong, the basketball coach of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and the head coach of the Macau national men’s basketball team  expressed his pride in leading the delegation to participate in the tournament and emphasized the importance of each player’s dedication and effort in guiding the team towards continuous improvement. He takes pride in the team’s ongoing progress and looks forward to contributing to Macau basketball in future competitions, moving forward.

Regarding training and passion for basketball, Andrew believes that perseverance and love for the sport are key to personal and team growth in this athletic endeavor. Using the example of the USJ Basketball team’s training, he highlighted how the students recently competed in the SIAS College Intercontinental Basketball Tournament. It was through consistent daily practice and teamwork that the team members were able to better face various challenges during the game and unleash their full potential. Therefore, whether as a player or a coach, continuous effort and teamwork are the first steps towards success on any field of play.
