‘Early Education Professional Development Advanced Course: Early Literacy Support’ (Unit 3: Adjustments in the Support Program, Class B)

DLCRE partnership project ‘GEG Chinese Literacy Education and Research Project’ (GEGCLEAR) organized the online teacher training program ‘Early Education Professional Development Advanced Course: Early Literacy Support’ (Unit 3: Adjustments in the Support Program, Class B).
Following the ‘Early Education Professional Development Advanced Course: Early Literacy Support’ (Unit 3: Adjustments in the Support Program, Class A) held in early September, GEGCLEAR hosted another class B on 21st October, intending to enhance teachers’ Chinese literacy education outcome.
Originally scheduled on 25th September, Class B was postponed until 21st October due to the latest anti-epidemic measures. Sixty-seven teachers from three project kindergartens, including Fu Luen School, Macau Baptist College and Lou Hau High School Affiliated Kindergarten completed the online class. In class, speakers introduced GEGCLEAR support program’s assessment mechanisms and adjustment strategies, and demonstrated the application of scaffolding principles in accommodating students’ individual differences. A group discussion section and a mock teaching activity were also offered in the class with instant feedback given by the speakers. Teachers responded that they benefited from the program.
The ‘Early Education Professional Development Advanced Course’ is co-hosted by DSEDJ and DLCRE. Unit 1 to 3 have been completed successfully, and Unit 4 ‘Reviewing the Support Program’ is tentatively scheduled to be held in 2022, with details to be announced in due course.
