Date: 23 October 2019
Time: 17:45-19:00
Venue: Gratia Hall, Seminary Campus

About the Speaker
Fr. Benedict Nivakoff, Prior, Monastery of St. Benedict, Norcia, Italy. He was educated at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee, USA and joined the Monastery at Norcia in 2001.  He has been the Prior of the Monastery since 2016.

About the Talk
St Benedict is rightly seen as the Father of Western Monasticism but also as the Patron of Europe. In the years after the collapse of the Roman Empire, Benedictine Monks were responsible for keeping alive both the life of the Church in Europe and carrying forward the cultural and intellectual heritage of Greece and Rome.  Prior Nivakoff will consider the requirements for the restoration of the Catholic Church in the light of the Benedictine experience and especially that of the community at Norcia.
