In order to celebrate Christmas and the Incarnation of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) participated and hosted the “Mother’s Meal” event on the 18th of December 2020.
More than 50 people in need were invited to participate. The activity began with a Mass celebrated at the Holy Cross Chapel, followed by dinner served at the USJ canteen by more than a dozen members of the USJ Catholic Community and volunteers with the presence of Fr. Jose Mandia and Fr. Rafael Vigolo, Fr. Mario Bonfaini, Fr. Pe. José Angel Hernandez and Fr. Jijo Kandamkulathy.
During the Mass, Fr. Jijo Kandamkulathy, founder of the “Mother’s Meal”, encouraged the participants to help and support each other to face the challenges during this pandemic period. There were participants from the Philippines and Africa, who expressed their gratitude to the church for the care and help, while some elders said that this activity has given them comfort in the cold winter. The participating Catholic community and volunteers were happy that they could live with the spirit of the gospel and in God’s love by helping the ones in need.
