Short Bio
Geoff Churchill is a veteran educator with over a decade of experience teaching within the Macau environment. He has taught in both secondary and post-secondary environments. While focusing primarily in Second Language Education, Geoff also has experience teaching in Social Sciences, Performing Arts and Character Education. In the arts, Geoff has enjoyed amateur work as a performer, scriptwriter and director. Holding a Master's Degree in Education, Geoff's areas of educational interest include the implementation of student centered classrooms, the integration of Arts in Education teaching methods into traditional classroom environments and the connection between classroom pedagogy methodologies and cognitive epistemology

Task-based English Learning (Early Childhood)
Year 1
This module is designed to assist students to develop and strengthen their English language skills specifically in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. On completion of this module, students will have been introduced to skills that will assist them to develop their communication abilities, to a satisfactory level, to complete written reports, produce written essays, and deliver oral-presentations, in English.
This module is designed to assist students to develop and strengthen their English language skills in learning environment at the university level. Specifically, attention will be given to developing the core academic competencies that are vital to the development of effective life-long learning strategies and skills. On the completion of this module students will be able to communicate effectively in academic contexts through essay writing and oral presentation.
Integrated learning activities involving all skill areas help students practice and apply the fundamentals of English in a more varied setting and develop more accuracy and control of their spoken and written English. Reading activities promote vocabulary expansion and model accurate structure. Students participate in discussion forums and are introduced to presentation skills for groups and individuals. Logical thinking in both oral and written formats is guided. As well, students are introduced to the five-paragraph essay format and practice writing summative, descriptive and comparative compositions.

Year 2
The module Theological English is especially catered to the students of the Faculty of Religious Studies (who are all non-native English speakers). It is an innovative program to introduce and equip our students to study theology in the English language. It tests students in the areas of academic reading, listening, speaking, and writing in theological English.
The objectives are:
• To understand advanced theological ideas in English;
• To improve skills in reading, understanding, and discussing theological texts in English
• To master common English theological terms and concepts
• To gain exposure to a variety of theological topics by reading and discussing the works of some theologians.
