The Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy will hold a Public Lecture on “Evidence & God” titled “Nature as Guide: Wittgenstein and the Renewal of Moral Theology” on 24 March 2022.
ABOUT THE SERIES:
Can we know that God exists? Is there evidence for God? Is there a conflict between science and religion? What constitutes good evidence for a religious claim? This lecture series explores answers to these questions.
ABOUT THE TALK:
The next lecture of our Series “Evidence & God” will focus on practical moral life, specifically the role of nature in human action: “Nature as Guide: Wittgenstein and the Renewal of Moral Theology.” The lecture brings the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein into conversations with contemporary Catholic moral theology and questions of human action. The lecture will look out for the transformation of human nature and action through God’s Word, showing how Wittgenstein’s understanding of human practices can shed light on the life of grace in human action as a trace of evidence of God’s presence.
