“SELECTED WORKS 2022” showcases the best works from graduating students of the USJ/FAH creative bachelors at the Creative Macau Gallery from November 11 to December 10, 2022.
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Organised by the University of Saint Joseph’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the “SELECTED WORKS 2022” exhibition highlights the best capstone projects of the Bachelor of Architectural Studies, Bachelor of Communication & Media and Bachelor of Design from the academic year 2021-2022.
This year’s Architecture graduation projects were developed under the theme “GAP”. Focusing on the new Macao Masterplan Outer Harbour Zone 1, students explored the design opportunities generated by existing voids of this area to develop alternative interactive spaces. The designs concentrated on increasing the connectivity between those forgotten gaps and the existing city, embracing the local culture and the ambition of a more participated public space.
“SHIFT” towards a sustainability-centred approach was the theme of the Design graduation projects. Students were asked to design for impact, using design as a thinking and operational tool to tackle the systemic challenges of our planet and our times. Alongside target users’ requirements, capstone projects addressed vital matters such as social relevance, economic sustainability, ecological balance, and cultural contextualisation.
Communication and Media graduation students created “UNUSUAL” works that show their unique and original perspectives of Macao. Graduation projects explored innovative techniques integrating photography, videography, sound, and art installations. From documental photography of old Macao to minorities and communities, but also visually impacted animated images that show the full potential of our students.
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites all interested to visit the exhibition, which will be held at the Creative Macau Gallery, G/F Macau Cultural Centre Building, until December 10, and to attend the Opening Reception on November 11 at 6:00 pm.
