The Marine and Environmental Science and Technology Exchange and Study Tour (MESTEX) is a two-day exchange and study tour sponsored by the Macao Foundation to Research Platforms in the Greater Bay Area, held from 25 to 26 September 2023.
A delegation formed by professors, staff, and undergraduate and graduate students from the Institute of Science and Environment (ISE) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) visited Southern Marine Laboratory (SML-Zhuhai) on 25 September 2023. They were warmly welcome by the researchers and staff members from SML-Zhuhai and was given a tour in their exhibition hall, followed by the showcase of their VR technology theatre.
Later, the group from ISE-USJ visited the School of Marine Sciences, Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) and was warmly welcome by the Vice-Dean, Prof. Ming Su, and the different research groups led by their Principal Investigators. A brief introduction of School of Marine Sciences and ISE-USJ were made and also the different research groups and ideas for future collaboration were exchanged during this meeting.
On the afternoon of 26 September 2023, the group from ISE-USJ visited the Zhuhai Fudan Innovation Research Institute located at the InnoValley Hengqin and was warmly welcome by their vice-director Mr. Ai-Jun Ye and their researchers and staffs and was given a tour at their exhibition hall showcasing their latest innovation and technology. ISE-USJ has a strong collaboration with Fudan University, providing supports in research and innovation. Later, a brief introduction of Zhuhai Fudan Innovation Research Institute and ISE-USJ was made during a meeting and ideas for future collaboration were exchanged.
Overall, the MESTEX exchange and study tour was an important step for ISE-USJ to establish deeper connections with institutions at the Greater Bay Area (GBA) for research and academic activities.
