The Seminar “Book Publishing with Springer” will take place on 24 January, from 6 – 7PM, in Classroom USJ106 – Ilha Verde Campus.
About the Talk:
This session will focus on book publishing with Springer, with a spotlight on Hong Kong and Macau. The presenters will demarcate and demystify the book proposal process, outlining the differences between Open Access and non-OA publishing models. The workshop will highlight key considerations for developing the book proposal, and the steps involved in revising the dissertation into a monograph. Several regionally-focused series in the humanities and social sciences will also be showcased. Attendees are welcome to meet with the editor and editorial director afterwards to discuss their work.
About the Speaker:
Floor Oosting is Editorial Director, Humanities Books, based in Dordrecht, The Netherlands. She will discuss the research and academic publishing landscape in Hong Kong, Open Access in an Asian context, and the Humanities books programme more broadly within Springer Nature. With over 25 years’ experience in publishing, Floor currently oversees a team of editors spanning India, the USA, Europe, and Singapore.
Alex Westcott Campbell is a Senior Commissioning Editor, Humanities and Social Sciences, covering Southeast and East Asia from her base in Singapore. She commissions monographs, edited volumes, book series and reference works across these disciplines and welcomes new proposals.
