A USJ Delegation visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, Thailand, on 16 February to explore opportunities for academic and research collaboration.
A delegation from the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) recently visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, Thailand, to explore collaboration opportunities. Led by Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, the USJ team engaged in strategic discussions with AIT representatives, emphasizing the importance of internationalisation and sustainability in their partnership.
During the visit, Prof. Álvaro Barbosa and Prof. Alexandre Lobo, Head of the Department of Business Administration, met with Prof. Chantri Polprasert from AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology, and Ms. Alistina Shrestina, Manager for Marketing, Recruitment, and Digital Strategy at AIT. The discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, including exchange programmes, joint workshops, internships, and the potential for dual degrees.

Prof. Karen Tagulao, Coordinator for the Master of Environmental Science and Management program at USJ’s Institute of Science and Environment (ISE), also explored opportunities for research collaboration with Prof. Oleg V. Shipin from the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) at AIT, during a visit to their freshwater mangrove museum. Their discussions centered around addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.

Both institutions expressed their commitment to formalising the collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The USJ remains steadfast in its pursuit on internationalisation and sustainability, aiming to provide students with global experiences and contribute to environmental stewardship.
