The University of Saint Joseph and SANY (Zhuhai) Investment Co., Ltd. jointly hosted a Signing Ceremony and the “Macao Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Policy Seminar” to mark the occasion of the establishment of the USJ Sino-Lusophone Business Incubation Base in Hengqin, and to promote the newly established “Measures of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone on Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship among Macao Youth”.
The USJ Sino-Lusophone Business Incubation Base inaugural signing ceremony CUM Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone Youth Entrepreneurship Policy Seminar was hosted by SANY Group Zhuhai Company and University of Saint Joseph (USJ) at the Artyzen Grand Lapa Hotel on 27 February 2024. The signing event, co-organized by Kenglam Cultural Development Co., marks the creation of a base specifically for assisting Macau Youth Entrepreneurs and international entrepreneurs in understanding and developing new businesses in the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone.
The event was well attended with representation from the Macau Education and Youth Bureau of Macau SAR, Economic Development and Technology Bureau, Cultural Institute, and People’s Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone and People’s Republic. In addition, The France Macau Chamber of Commerce, Macau European Chamber of Commerce, Macau Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce, and companies from People’s. The event saw the inauguration of the Sino-Lusophone Business Incubation Base and the promotion of the USJ Greater Bay Area Network. The event also saw the Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Association Secretary General explaining the latest policy for Macau’s and Hong Kong’s youth development in Hengqin. The event invited entrepreneurs from multiple fields, including Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Macao. They explained hot topics related to Macao’s youth entrepreneurship, Hengqin’s finance and taxation, customs closure policy, cross-border finance, etc., to deepen participants’ understanding of Hengqin’s policies and development direction. The ceremony also saw the introduction of the Sany Group network and its industrial reach in multiple industries and countries.
During his speech, Xiong Jun, general manager of Sany Group Zhuhai Company and president of Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Association, said that in the past year of continuous investment promotion, the occupancy rate of Sany’s industrial buildings in Hengqin reached approximately 35%, with nearly 60 shops opened, making it one of the office buildings with the most merchants opened on Hengqin Island. In addition to thanking partners and customers for their support, he hopes to build the event into a platform for cooperation and exchange and even develop into an ecological conference to promote opportunities for enterprises to establish links and resources and continue to generate more industrial ecological zone effects. Xiong Jun also emphasized that the incubation base will serve the diversification of the industry of Macao and also provide the youth with new opportunities to enter China.
Ms. Angela Gan, Managing Director of Kenglam Cultural Development Co., also reflected that Macau Youth entrepreneurs could use Hengqin as a “springboard” to the Great Bay Area market.
The Rector of the University of Saint Joseph reinforced that USJ is committed to the idea of “one center, one platform”. He also pointed out that the diversified development of Hengqin and Macao cannot rely solely on Macao’s youth but requires the joint efforts of Macao and mainland youth, including Macao’s entrepreneurial teams and enterprises in the development stage to integrate into the development of the mainland and the Greater Bay Area and find business development Opportunities. The creation of the USJ GBA Network will also facilitate the development of links to Europe via Lisboa, Portugal. He said the base would house the Macau Spin Incubator, part of the University of Saint Joseph, consistent with the “1+4” development strategy in areas such as health and high technology. For example, it will bring a project focused on neuroscience, which can be applied in many fields of education and health. Additionally, USJ hopes to stimulate students’ talents and ideas, including international students from Portuguese-speaking countries.
