The visit provided an opportunity for collaborative discussions on educational practices and fostering connections between the two institutions.
On March 6, 2024, a delegation from the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong embarked on a meaningful exchange trip to Macau, hosted by the School of Education at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). The delegation was led by Dr. Leung Kin Yi Promail, Director of School-University Partnerships, Ms. Gloria Liu, Manager of School Development in the School-University Partnerships Office, and Ms. Karen Wong, Partnership Executive Officer, along with 11 undergraduate students.
The first leg of the exchange trip was led by Prof. Isabel Tchiang, the Director of the Teachers’ Professional Development Centre, and Ms. Phoebe Cao, the Outreach Programme Coordinator, to a School of Education (SED) MOU partner school – Colégio Mateus Ricci (Ricci School). Principal Irene Cheung, Vice Principal Bonnie Wu, and a group of teachers welcomed and guided the delegation around the campus, engaging in meaningful discussions.
Following this, the HKU students and staff were warmly received by the Rector, Rev’d Professor Stephen Morgan, and Vice-Rector Dr. Teresa Loong. hall. During the lunch, members of SED and student representatives from Bachelor of Education (BEd) programmes had a fruitful exchange. A campus tour of the university’s facilities was also held.
During the sharing session, Prof. Rochelle Ge introduced the history of USJ, the development direction of SED, and higher education in Macao. Dr. Leung presented the educational vision of the Faculty of Education at HKU. Three undergraduate students, Miss Yeung Ho Ching, Mr. Ng Yeung Shing, and Mr. Chan Hong Yin, shared their experiences with overseas immersion exchange programmes, elective learning, and experiential learning projects. Prof. Iris Mak then delivered a themed presentation titled “Eyeing 2030 – Education for Sustainable Development,” introducing recent key strategies for integrating Sustainable Development Goals into USJ’s education and curriculum. Faculty members and students from various cohorts of SED-BEd programmes actively participated in the sharing and exchange session.
This visit provided an opportunity for collaborative discussions on educational practices and fostering connections between the two institutions. As the university celebrates the success of this enriching educational journey, anticipation grows for future collaborations and exchanges.
