USJ and Macau Down Syndrome Association Signed Memorandum of Understanding

Both parties aim to promote social awareness and development for people with Down syndrome and their families, and strengthen cooperation and exchange in the professional and educational fields.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), represented by the Dean of the School of Health Sciences Prof. Jacky Ho, and the Macau Down Syndrome Association, representative by Chairman of Executive Board Ms. Teresa Lao. The signing ceremony was held on 21st March. 2024.
Both parties aim to promote social awareness and development for people with Down syndrome and their families, and strengthen cooperation and exchange in the professional and educational fields.
At the same time, the Association also held an event to celebrate the “321 World Down Syndrome Day” and its 10th anniversary, launching a commemorative issue of “10 Years of Down Syndrome – Thanksgiving for the Journey Together” with the hope that readers would have a deeper understanding of people with Down Syndrome, and that people with intellectual disabilities could enjoy equal rights as others, and be able to contribute to the society through their own endeavours and social work.
President Teresa Lao said that the Association has organised and participated in many different types of activities in the past ten years to promote information about Down syndrome to the society and in the future, it will continue to actively work with all walks of life to create a caring and inclusive social environment for people with disabilities.
