Dr. Ho Chi Weng is the first psychiatrist trained in Macao. He has been the Director of the Department of Psychiatry at the Conde S. Januário Hospital for 22 years, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Macao Psychiatry and the President of the Mental Health Commission of Macao for 17 years, and he has been involved in the promotion of the maintenance of mental health and the study of mental health related issues.

This sharing session provides a unique opportunity for the Master students to learn from Dr Ho Chi Wing’s experience in clinical practice, and to learn more about substance use, mental health and the implementation of tertiary prevention from a professional medical perspective.

The guest speaker programme provides an open environment for students to exchange ideas and learn about the complex relationship between substance use and mental health, and students benefit greatly from the guest speaker’s sharing of experiences and realise the importance and possibilities of inter-professional collaboration between the social work profession and other professions.
