USJ introduced the university’s Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy and Procedures at 2015 Meeting of Leaders of Macau Higher Education Institutions organised by GAES.
The Tertiary Education Services Office (GAES) of the Macau Government recently held the 2015 Meeting of Leaders of Macau Higher Education Institutions to discuss topics that are strategically important to the development of higher education. At this meeting, aside from delivering an update on the progress in creating Macau’s first accreditation system for higher education, GAES introduced the practices of implementing anti-harassment policies in Hong Kong and Taiwan as references for Macau’s preparation of policies on sexual harassment.
Rector Fr. Peter Stilwell and Pro-Rector Vincent Yang of USJ attended this meeting and introduced the USJ’s Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy and Procedures. At this meeting, representatives of all the universities and colleges agreed on the need of having a sexual harassment policy. Several representatives also supported USJ’s suggestion that such a policy should go beyond sexual harassment and address all types of discrimination and harassment in the light of the Basic Law principle of equality and international standards.
