The cooperation agreement will enable both institutions to jointly promote the integration of in-depth social services and education, and to help ex-offenders reintegrate into society.

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in Macao and the Noah’s Family Mutual Aid Association (NFMA) signed a cooperation agreement on the 31st of May, 2024. The main objective of this cooperation is to promote the integration of educational work and the promotion of a deeper integration of social services and education in order to better support inmates or ex-offenders in their rehabilitation and social reintegration through the “Activity Coordinators Internship Program for Drug Rehabilitation Youth and Family Support Services”.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Prof. Jacky Ho, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of USJ, and Rev. David Wong, President of Noah’s Family Mutual Aid Association (NFMA), to jointly launch the training programme. The signing ceremony was attended by USJ faculty members, including Prof Jenny Lao, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, and Prof. Helen Liu, Programme Leader of the Prison Outreach Programme, as well as members of the Association.

The University of Saint Joseph aims to further promote the training programme to the wider community in the future, and encourage students of the prison outreach programme to participate in the related internship programme. It is hoped that it can effectively build a supportive and connective network for the students and seamlessly assist the ex-offenders to integrate into society, so as to raise public awareness of this issue.
