The Department of Architecture and Design of USJ/FAH proudly presents the Graduation Show 2024 – RE-IMAGINE MACAO – held from 26 June to 30 August at the Kent Wong Gallery – Basement.
Organised by the Department of Architecture and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), RE-IMAGINE MACAO brings together two exhibitions showcasing the 2023/2024 academic year capstone projects of the Bachelor of Architectural Studies – ‘Outer Harbour Scapes’ – and Bachelor of Design – ‘Rhizomatic Design’. Graduates present their capstone project to the public through this exhibition as the final step of their studies.

“Undulating Connections”
The Architecture Capstone Project explores the Outer Harbour 2 area as expectant ground, creating a new urban setting that reinforces the existing city’s connectivity and celebrates the proximity of the waterfront. In these ‘Outer Harbour Scapes’, students developed individual projects ranging from high-rise housing, public facilities, shopping malls, and office buildings to cultural buildings, libraries, museums, universities and hospitality at the waterfront. These projects follow the local construction regulations and the local programmatic requirements while projecting Macau towards a future where meaningful innovation in architecture becomes a relevant asset to improve the quality of life in Macau as a world-class city.

“Macau Church Culture”
The Design Capstone Project offered a fresh perspective and a unique opportunity for students to address challenges through the lens of ‘Rhizomatic Design’. In their projects, students were asked to question the status quo, embrace complexity, and envision a city that thrives through creativity, adaptability, and interconnectedness. Students conceived and developed various projects, from urban furniture to educational toys, home furniture, and branding. Their capstone projects aimed to positively impact our lives and society, making a meaningful contribution to the future of Macao.
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites all interested to visit the exhibitions, which will be held at the Kent Wong Gallery – Basement of the USJ Ilha Verde Campus until 30 August, and to attend the Opening Reception on 26 June at 6:00 pm.
