On 20 September, the Macau Myanmar Friendship Association delegation visited the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). During the Visit, they were warmly received by the Vice-rector for Student Life of USJ, Dr. Teresa Loong, and Administrator, Dr. Alejandro Salcedo Garcia, where discussions on future collaborations took place.
A lunch gathering was organised by the Office for Student and Alumni Affairs (OSAA) in the Ilha Verde Campus, providing a platform for relaxed exchanges among the guests and Myanmar’s students. Guests in attendance included Jose Wong, Chairman of the Macau Myanmar Friendship Association, and association representatives, as well as staff members from USJ.
One of the participants at the gathering, Sai Hti Kham Khone, a first-year Myanmar student from the Master of Design Programme, expressed delight in gaining insights into the current local community in Macau during the exchange activities. He also mentioned his plans to stay in Macau for further development, and the insights gained from the lunch gathering regarding the situation of Myanmar nationals in Macau, believing that guidance and advice from seniors will help him understand his career direction.
Saw Darwi Htoo, a second-year Myanmar student from the Bachelor of Environmental Science, appreciated the warmth of the Macau Myanmar Friendship Association in addressing students’ queries. He also noted the Macanese cuisine served at the gathering, reminiscent of the USJ International Cultural Carnival (ICC) he had experienced last time, expressing anticipation for the upcoming ICC in this academic year to experience the charm of Macau’s diverse culture alongside his classmates.
