New Partnership between USJ Macao and Community of Portuguese – Speaking Countries Business Confederation (CE-CPLP)

With the signing of this protocol, the USJ is now positioned to extend its expertise from the GBA to the business communities of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries and its affiliates.
In a significant step towards fostering international collaboration and professional development, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) hosted the GBA Forum on October 16, 2024, where a cooperation protocol was signed between the President of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries Business Confederation (CE-CPLP), Ms. Nelma Pontes Fernandes, and the Rector of USJ, Rev’d Professor Stephen Morgan. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Director of the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Mr. Zhang Ge, and the China Delegate of CE-CPLP, Ms. Carmen Wu.
This agreement aims to create opportunities for citizens of the Portuguese-speaking community, as well as the academic and scientific partners of USJ, to enhance their personal and professional development. It also emphasises the sustainable development and well-being of the populations in regions associated with both institutions, including Macao, China, Southeast Asia, and Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as the public and private institutions associated with, and partners, of both institutions.
While addressing the purpose of the forum, the Rector Morgan said “The dynamism of the Greater Bay Area needs to be communicated around the world, particularly to the Portuguese-speaking countries. Given USJ’s representation and connection to Portuguese-speaking countries, it could play a role in advancing the promotion of the Greater Bay Area.”
The GBA Forum facilitated meaningful interactions between leading entrepreneurs, accelerators, and incubators, enhancing connectivity and knowledge sharing among participants, specially the youth. This collaborative environment equips stakeholders with the insights necessary to address developmental needs and explore future opportunities.
With the signing of this protocol, the USJ is now positioned to extend its expertise from the Greater Bay Area to the business communities of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries and its affiliates, promoting an inclusive and collaborative approach to sustainable development.

Nova parceria entre a USJ e a Confederação Empresarial da Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa (CE-CPLP)
Num passo significativo para fomentar a colaboração internacional e o desenvolvimento profissional, a Universidade de São José (USJ) acolheu o Fórum GBA no dia 16 de Outubro de 2024, onde foi assinado um protocolo de cooperação entre a Presidente da Confederação Empresarial da Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa (CE-CPLP), Nelma Pontes Fernandes, e o Reitor da USJ, Reverendo Professor Stephen Morgan. A cerimónia de assinatura foi testemunhada pelo Director Adjunto do Gabinete de Desenvolvimento Económico da Zona de Cooperação Aprofundada Guangdong-Macau em Hengqin, Sr. Zhang Ge, e pela Delegada da CE-CPLP na China, Sra. Carmen Wu.
Este acordo tem como objectivo criar oportunidades para os cidadãos da comunidade lusófona, bem como para os parceiros académicos e científicos da USJ, de forma a potenciar o seu desenvolvimento pessoal e profissional. O acordo visa ainda o desenvolvimento sustentável e o bem-estar das populações das regiões associadas às duas instituições, nomeadamente Macau, China, Sudeste Asiático e Países de Língua Portuguesa, bem como das instituições públicas e privadas associadas e parceiras das duas instituições.
Ao abordar o objetivo do fórum, o Reitor da USJ afirmou que “O dinamismo da Área da Grande Baía de Cantão-Hong Kong-Macau deve ser divulgado em todo o mundo, particularmente aos países de língua portuguesa. Tendo em conta a representação e a ligação da USJ aos países lusófonos, a USJ poderá desempenhar um papel importante na promoção da Área da Grande Baía.”
O Fórum GBA facilitou interações relevantes entre os principais empreendedores, aceleradores e incubadoras, aumentando a conectividade e a partilha de conhecimentos entre os participantes, especialmente os jovens. Este ambiente de colaboração dota as partes interessadas dos conhecimentos necessários para responder às necessidades de desenvolvimento e explorar oportunidades futuras.
Com a assinatura deste protocolo, a USJ está agora em posição de alargar a sua experiência da Área da Grande Baía às comunidades empresariais da Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa e seus afiliados, promovendo uma abordagem inclusiva e colaborativa para o desenvolvimento sustentável.
