USJ Vice-Rector Álvaro Barbosa meets with the Myanmar Study Abroad representatives to solidify efforts on a joint-scholarship programme for qualified students in need.
On 29 October, 2024, USJ Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs Professor Álvaro Barbosa visited the Myanmar Study Abroad team in Bangkok to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
The partnership aims to establish a long-lasting scholarship programme for qualified students in need to receive higher education at USJ Macao under scholarships while supported by the association to pay for travel fees and receive a living stipend. The Myanmar Study Abroad team expressed high hopes for reaching more prospective students through acquiring University partners so that students may enrol in undergraduate or graduate programmes that best fit them without financial concerns and reach their full potential. Professor Álvaro Barbosa also reiterated that USJ Macao is committed to offering support as needed to potent scholars and looks forward to meeting the candidates and hearing their educational aspirations. He further shares that USJ as an incredibly diverse and multicultural university will provide students an immersive study abroad experience while receiving personalised community support.
Myanmar Study Abroad (Center for Academic Advising and University Preparation) was founded in support of potential young leaders from Myanmar and marginalised communities to access quality education and professional development opportunities. The association also provides an array of accessible services including GED testing centres across Myanmar and Thailand, standardised exam preparations, student mentorship as well as curriculum and scholarship resources.
