The Macau Observatory for Social Development of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and The Macau Association for Community Care Children co-organised the annual “Along with Youth Roundtable” on the topics of Special Education Needs (SEN) and Inclusive Education Development. This event was held at the Don Bosco Auditorium in USJ Ilha Verde Campus on the 12th of November, 2024.
Guests and experts were invited to discuss ‘along with youth’ strategies for the adolescents with disabilities. From the perspectives of education and social services, they shared insights on inclusive and special education through academic research and practical experience.
Prof. Jacky Ho, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at USJ, said ‘The purpose of this symposium is to explore non-traditional methods to intervene in the world of teenagers and children. We could try to expand different communication channels and development space in innovative ways. In addition, we need to care about the changing family structure, as well as the teenagers and children who grow up in these family environments, consider more about the role of society and become their companions. Through listen to their voices, build an ecological environment suitable for the growth and development of adolescents.’
