The partnership between USJ Macao and Siam University promises to enhance educational opportunities for students, fostering international collaboration and academic excellence.
On the 6th of December, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ Macao) proudly welcomed Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, President of Siam University, for an official visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two institutions. Dr. Pornchai was warmly welcomed by USJ Rector Professor Stephen Morgan and Professor Álvaro Barbosa, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalisation.
The highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement that formalizes the intention to develop international double degree programmes in Business Administration and Communication & Media. This agreement builds upon a prior Memorandum of Understanding established in 2022, which set the groundwork for broader cooperation between USJ Macao and Siam University.
The signing ceremony featured key representatives from both faculties including the Dean of Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Professor Carlos Sena Caires, and the Head of the Department of Business and Administration, Professor Sérgio Gomes, representing the Faculty of Business and Law.
Dr. Pornchai’s visit marks his first trip to Macao and the USJ campus, where he was given a guided campus tour by Professor Carlos Sena Caires. The tour showcased the cutting-edge facilities available to students, including the audiovisual studio, fabrication lab, design studio, architecture studio, and computer labs. Dr. Pornchai was also impressed by the remarkable student artwork displayed throughout the campus.
In addition to the campus tour, Dr. Pornchai explored the Ruins of Saint Paul, a historic site that deepened his understanding of USJ Macao’s long-standing tradition of intercultural exchange. This legacy has been a hallmark of Catholic higher education in Macao since the founding of the College of Saint Paul in 1594, enriching Dr. Pornchai’s experience and appreciation of the USJ’s rich history.
