The MODULUS Bamboo Pavilion, designed by students of the Architecture Programme of the USJ Faculty of Arts and Humanities, is open to the public from 12 December 2023 – 19 January 2024.
The MODULUS Bamboo Pavilion will officially open on Tuesday, 12 December 2023, at 17h30, at the Ilha Verde Campus courtyard.
The MODULUS Bamboo Pavilion is a project by the Department of Architecture and Design of the USJ Faculty of Arts and Humanities sponsored by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEDJ).
This ephemeral architectural structure is built on the long tradition of USJ bamboo pavilions, combining the potential of vernacular bamboo techniques and local craftsmanship with the creativity and digital design skills of USJ architecture and design students.
The MODULUS Bamboo Pavilion is a fluid and dynamic space with two undulating surfaces and intricate bamboo densities. Its innovative form is designed to trigger people’s attention and imagination, creating an opportunity for multiple encounters.
Planned to develop the participants’ comprehensive ability and competitiveness, the pavilion will be open for activities by the USJ and the broader local community, standing as an invitation for cross-disciplinary collaboration, hosting exhibitions, coral performances, lectures, workshops and other community events. The MODULUS Bamboo Pavilion is open to the public at USJ’s Ilha Verde Campus Courtyard, and all are welcome to the opening ceremony and to visit during the University’s opening hours.
