OTTOSONICS | Creative Soundscape Workshop Series
OTTOSONICS | Creative Soundscape Workshop Series
19
Feb
Join the “OTTOSONICS” Workshop Series, from 19 – 23 February, and learn the setup process of a 24-channel audio system at USJ as well as what is and how to create audio for immersive multichannel systems.
OTTOsonics is an initiative to make immersive audio formats accessible to sound and performance artists, as well as cultural and educational institutions, and to facilitate their use in the arts and culture. OTTOsonics is an open platform for artists to address barriers to incorporating immersive sounds in all disciplines of arts and performances, to exchange technical and creative methods from production to implementation, and to share artistic and technological know-how across the field of acoustic and electronic music. Originally developed in Ottensheim (Austria) in collaboration with the Tangible Music Lab from the University of the Arts Linz, it has since then, expand to other countries and we are bringing it for the first time to Asia.
In this workshop, participants will learn the setup process of a 24-channel audio system at USJ as well as what is and how to create audio for immersive multichannel systems. A concert will be organised on Saturday to present some of the works.
About the Tutors:
Manu Mitterhuber is a live-musician, sounddesigner and composer for contemporary dance and theater and a music producer for various bands and projects. A growing interest in delivering sound to a live audience and the combination of analytical and artistic skills in acoustics, electronics and composition lead to the OTTOsonics project he initiated in 2021.
Enrique Tomás is a sound artist and post-doc researcher who dedicates his time to finding new ways of expression and play with sound, art and technology. His work explores the intersection between sound art, computer music, locative media and human-machine interaction.
