Public Lecture | "Living without Limits? Christian Reflections on the Ecological Dilemmas"

21

Oct

The Public Lecture “Living without Limits? Christian Reflections on the Ecological Dilemmas” by Prof. Dr. Ingeborg Gabriel, organised by the USJ Green Committee, Institute of Science and Environment, and the Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy, will take place on October 21 in the Speaker’s Hall – NAPE Campus.

About the Talk:

The global environmental crisis is an unprecedented event in human history, as are the challenges it poses, technically as well as ethically and religiously. In his encyclical Laudato si’ (LS) Pope Frances calls for a “courageous, cultural revolution” (LS 114). In this lecture we will ask what this gigantic intellectual and moral challenge requires with regard to our world view and ethics. Thereby a central element of a cosmologically embedded anthropology is the recognition of (planetary) boundaries, which is often neglected in modern models.
