Public Lecture | The Preservation of Cultural and Artistic Heritage: Current Challenges in the field of Conservation and Restoration

22

Oct

The Public Lecture “The Preservation of Cultural and Artistic Heritage: Current Challenges in the field of Conservation and Restoration” organised by the Department of History and Heritage – Faculty of Arts and Humanities will take place on October 22 in the Conference Room of Seminary Campus.

About the Talk:
The aim is to explain what it’s really all about when it comes to preserving historical and artistic heritage, introducing one of the main agents with this responsibility: the conservator-restorer. Who is this person? What are their roles and responsibilities? What is their training? How do they act and how is their thinking process when it comes to making decisions about the intervention methodology needed to recover an object or care for a collection?

Through a brief historical analysis of what the field of conservation and restoration has been and how it has evolved over time, we can reflect on the current state of affairs and the biggest challenges for the near future.

About the Speaker:

Carla Felizardo
