On 1 April 2025, Prof. Jenny Phillips, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL), and Prof. Ansoumane Douty Diakité, Head of the Department of Law and Public Policy of FBL, participated in the opening of ISCAL (Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração de Lisboa) in Portugal. During this event, they delivered a presentation on the achievements and initiatives at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ).

On the same day, Prof. Phillips presented a lecture titled “Creativity: From Lateral to Design Thinking” as part of the Commercial Law Open Lecture Series. She encouraged law students to adopt innovative perspectives on problem-solving and illustrated how law firms can capitalise on business opportunities by recognising connections between seemingly unrelated professions.

On 4 April, Prof. Diakité presented a lecture on “Assessment of China GBA Cross-Border Data Transfer Policy” to students and academics involved in the Erasmus programme. His presentation included insights from his research on data transfer between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, which encourages a deeper understanding of international data policies.

The ISCAL International Days, held from 1 to 4 April, is an annual event organised by the Lisbon Polytechnic Institute. This gathering brings together academics in the fields of Business and Law from around the globe, providing opportunities for participants to share research, network, and develop academic collaborations.
