English Language Centre
Welcome to the English Language Centre (ELC), we are here to support students and staff by working closely with all faculties and departments at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). Advanced English language skills are vital to our daily life in a multicultural and multidimensional world and will continue to be at the forefront on international and local communications in the foreseeable future. For this reason, the ELC at USJ functions to develop and enhance students’ English language proficiency, for general, professional and academic disciplines to support students during their academic studies and preparing them for their future roles in society.
Students can benefit from a wide array of in-class and out-of-class learning opportunities such as participating in in-class activities and English competition activities. For students in graduate and postgraduate studies the ELC also offers English modules through the lifelong learning office at USJ and fees-based dissertation and theses proofreading/editing services. We also plan and execute English for specific purposes courses for organisations in Macao and beyond.
In supporting the wider Macao community, we organise and participate in a range of activities. We hold the annual Macao-wide English poetry writing and recital contest for primary, secondary and university students that has provided opportunities for students of all ages to express their creativity and flair. We support the English speech, debate and essay competitions by mentoring and supporting USJ student participants.
