As part of its commitment to sustainability, the University of Saint Joseph’s Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) hosted the “ESG and CSR: Practices in the Greater Bay Area” roundtable event on October 23, 2024. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by fostering responsible business practices in the region.
The event featured prominent speakers, including Mr. Timas Liu, General Manager of Willey Printing Limited, and Ms. Stephanie Zhao, Associate Director of Sustainability at Sands China Ltd. Both are recognized leaders in the fields of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within Macao and the Greater Bay Area.
Moderated by Prof. Florence Lei, the roundtable facilitated an insightful discussion on the current landscape of ESG and CSR practices in the region. Participants explored strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by businesses in their sustainability efforts. Mr. Timas Liu shared his practical insights into ethical management and responsible entrepreneurship within small and medium-sized enterprises in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Ms. Stephanie Zhao addressed the successes and challenges that large enterprises in Macao encounter as they strive for economic, social, and environmental sustainability.
