“ConnectUs” on Awareness of Students’ Mental Health

On 15 October 2022, FHS was invited to take part in the teacher’s training workshop “Awareness of Students’ Mental Health – Strategy and Effective Approach” at Macau Saint Paul School.
The Faculty of Health Sciences of University of Saint Joseph (USJ) was invited to take part in the teacher’s training workshop “Awareness of Students’ Mental Health – Strategy and Effective Approach” at Macau Saint Paul School on the 15 October, 2022.
Prof. Jacky Ho, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and director of Macao Observatory for Social Development, and Prof. Jayson Lou, programme coordinator of Master of Social Work, conducted an interactive workshop on how to tackle with students’ mental health issues and redefine the role of teachers in facing challenges relating to their wellbeing with a group of 90 teachers.
This sharing aimed to raise self-awareness of teachers and to equip them with a set of strategy to observe and deal with the issue first hand before making necessary referral to school counselors through a cooperative mechanism. Teachers attended were actively engaged. This form of collaboration is part of the “ConnectUs” Initiative and demonstrates USJ’s commitment to serving its beloved community’s needs and care for our youth.
