The Chinese Literacy Education and Research (CLEAR) project under the Domingos Lam Center for Education (DLCRE), in cooperation with Macau Baptist College, held a K3 Parent Seminar on May 10. The seminar was held in the school hall of Macau Baptist College, in which more than 60 parents attended.
The seminar focused on reading and writing skills and was conducted by Prof. Miranda Mak, Co-Principal Investigator of the CLEAR project and Assistant Professor of the School of Education of the University of Saint Joseph. She introduced the challenges parents faced as their children progressed from kindergarten to primary school in terms of Chinese writing and comprehension, and how parents could help them through this process. Parents shared that the skills presented were very useful and allowed them to prepare for their children’s progress.
The CLEAR project promotes the importance of early Chinese literacy and has actively supported kindergartens, parents and children. For more details about the basal series for the transition from kindergarten to primary school, please contact 85925695 or email dlcre.clear@usj.edu.mo.
