Dr. Alessandro Lampo, Assistant Professor at the USJ Faculty of Business and Law received the “Best Oral Presentation Award” for his latest paper titled “Examining How ‘Technology Show-off’ Affects the Acceptance of Innovations in the Battery Electric Vehicle Sector”.
Dr. Alessandro Lampo, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business and Law of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) received the “Best Oral Presentation Award” for his latest paper titled “Examining How ‘Technology Show-off’ Affects the Acceptance of Innovations in the Battery Electric Vehicle Sector” at the 6th International Conference on Management Science and Industrial Engineering (MSIE 2024) held in Bangkok between 24th and 26th of April, 2024.
The conference discussed innovations in the science of data-driven decision-making in complex and uncertain environments through algorithms, computation, and mathematical modeling; the primary goal of the event was to exchange, share, and distribute the latest research and theories from the international community.
About the Paper:
Theories and models describe the complexity of how people embrace and make use of innovations. In the battery electric vehicle (BEV) domain, the determinants of behavior have traditionally revolved around factors such as vehicle purchase price and driving range. To explain the adoption of technologies, this paper focuses on the new concept of “technology show-off” (TS) as a determinant of behavioral intention. Accordingly, when individuals perceive technology as more visible and available for trial, the behavioral intention to adopt becomes stronger. Using structural equation modeling, the study examined the significance of the TS construct. The findings highlight the salience of technology show-off in explaining behavioral intention, underscoring its significance in the context of modern society.
