Enhancing Collaboration Between Shaoguan University and the University of Saint Joseph

USJ received a delegation from Shaoguan University vOn 17th March 2023,
On 17th March 2023, a delegation from Shaoguan University visited the University of Saint Joseph Macao (USJ). The delegation was led by Vice-rector of Shaoguan University, Prof. He Jinming, and received by the Vice-rectors of USJ, Prof. Keith Morrison and Prof. Zhang Shuguang, Administrator Dr. Alejandro Salcedo and Head of the Office for Student and Alumni Affairs Dr. Teresa Loong.
The guests were shown around the main Ilha Verde campus, including student and staff facilities, Library, laboratories, and studios. At the discussion in the Senate Room of the University, Prof. Keith Morrison stated the importance of diversified development in Macao, and that the development of Macao is closely related to that of mainland China. He noted that this meeting was the beginning of the collaboration between Shaoguan University and USJ, with both institutions sharing their joint will to grow from being neighbours to being friends, learning together, helping each other, and involving each other in diverse projects.
Prof. He Jinming introduced the background and development of Shaoguan University. He expressed that he would look forward to further collaboration and exchange between the students of both institutions, especially the international students. There could be more exchange tours for students to understand the history and culture of Shaoguan, the development of the city, and to admire the beautiful surrounding scenery. Prof. Zhang Shuguang responded that there were three suggestions to move forward: to spread the “story” of USJ, and to remark on Shaoguan being the important border gate for western culture to be the entry point into the Chinese region, and to enhance the communication and collaboration between Shaoguan and Macao.
