Executive Director of the International Portuguese Language Institute Visits USJ

The visit aimed to promote current activities of the IILP and to identify possible future collaborations between the two institutions.
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao received a courtesy visit from the Executive Director of the International Portuguese Language Institute (IILP), João Laurentino Neves, on the 17th May, 2024, as part of his tour of higher education institutes in the Macao Special Administrative Region.
The Executive Director was warmly welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) of USJ, Prof. Carlos Sena Caires, and the Head of the Department of Languages and Culture of the FAH/USJ, Prof. Tânia Ribeiro Marques.
During the visit a meeting was held where it was agreed that master’s and doctoral students of UJS would take part in a project that IILP is developing in partnership with the Centre for Linguistics of the University of Porto (CLUP), to provide the spoken Portuguese language in Macao as research data.
USJ and IILP also discussed the possibility of developing specialised portuguese language training programmes for specific groups of people in Portuguese-speaking countries and China in the near future.
About the International Portuguese Language Institute (IILP):
The International Portuguese Language Institute is an institution of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) that supports the spread of the Portuguese language in the world. The institute has legal status and is endowed with scientific, administrative and patrimonial autonomy. Its headquarters is located in Praia, Cabo Verde.

Visita do Director Executivo do Instituto Internacional de Língua Portuguesa (IILP)
A Universidade de São José (USJ) Macau recebeu, no dia 17 de Maio de 2024, uma visita de cortesia do Diretor Executivo do Instituto Internacional de Língua Portuguesa (IILP), João Laurentino Neves, no âmbito da sua visita às instituições de ensino superior da Região Administrativa Especial de Macau.
O Diretor Executivo foi cordialmente recebido pelo Director da Faculdade de Artes e Humanidades (FAH) da USJ, Prof. Carlos Sena Caires, e pela Directora do Departamento de Línguas e Cultura da FAH/USJ, Prof.ª Tânia Ribeiro Marques.
Durante a visita, realizou-se uma reunião em que ficou acordado que os alunos de mestrado e doutoramento da USJ irão participar num projeto que o IILP está a desenvolver em parceria com o Centro de Linguística da Universidade do Porto (CLUP), para disponibilizar como dados a língua portuguesa falada em Macau.
A USJ e o IILP discutiram também a possibilidade de desenvolver programas de formação especializada em língua portuguesa para grupos específicos de pessoas nos países de língua portuguesa e na China.
