The Department of Social Work of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of USJ recently held a Self-Discovery Workshop for Social Work students on July 22. The workshop aimed to help students re-examine their values, attitudes, knowledge and skills, discover their expectations and aspirations for their learning and life, and create a mutually supportive and encouraging space to facilitate exchange among the students.

Through the workshop, students freely expressed their thoughts and feelings in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, sharing and encouraging each other. The workshop was co-led by social work students Winnie Lei, and Ng Pak Kio. The students participated in personality tests, interest exploration, and other interactive sessions, enhancing their self-awareness and drawing strength to embrace the new challenges of future learning actively.

USJ’s Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Teresa Loong, Dean of FHS, Prof. Jacky Ho, and academic members of the Department of Social Work, including Prof. Francisco Botelho, Prof. Leona Ng, and Prof. Stella O, attended the event. Together, they conversed with the students, sharing information about future trends in the social work landscape and helping students better understand their future learning journey and career options.

The Faculty of Health Sciences of USJ will continue to provide peer support activities for students to strengthen their overall health and well-being, cultivate good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, and lay a foundation for their future career and life development.
