The 43rd Macao Green Week Carnival, held on 16 – 17 March, 2024, received a remarkable support from the community, reflecting the growing interest in environmental initiatives. The event provided a platform to showcase the green initiatives of the Institute of Science and Environment (ISE) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ).

The ISE booth, coordinated by Prof. Karen Tagulao with support from USJ-ISE staff and students, showcased the importance of wetlands, including mangroves, microorganisms, freshwater and marine ecosystems, and the promotion of responsible water management and sustainable fisheries.

A highlight of the booth was a model wave tank that demonstrated the critical role of mangroves in coastal protection. Visitors of all ages actively participated in interactive activities such as biodiversity puzzles, recycling games, a “build a green city” interactive game and seed planting, demonstrating a sincere interest in environmental awareness.

The positive response to the Green Week Carnival reflects the community’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. With the theme “Passing on the Love of Nature to Build a Beautiful City Together”, the event effectively promoted the values of conservation and environmental care.

We thank all participants for their contribution to the success of this event! ISE/USJ remains committed to continuing our efforts towards a more sustainable and greener Macao.
