To promote early literacy research and development in Macau, the University of Saint Joseph Domingos Lam Centre for Research in Education and Galaxy Entertainment Group Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding on the 1st of July, 2020, creating a partnership alliance for the elaboration and development of educational and professional activities. This partnership agreement was signed by University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Rector Reverend Professor Stephen Morgan and Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) Foundation Executive Director Mr. William Yiu.

In accordance with this agreement, the Domingos Lam Centre for Research in Education and the GEG Foundation will work together to promote the GEG Chinese Literacy Education and Research Project (The CLEAR Project). An initiative led by Professor Cheng Pui Wan, the long-term goal of this project is to build a research and evidence-based literacy education model, to provide professional development for teachers, to develop small-group learning support for students, and to organize seminars on language and literacy acquisition for parents. Currently, the kindergarten sections of six Macanese schools are participating in this initiative: Macau Baptist College, Colegio de Santa Rosa de Lima Chinese Section, Fu Luen School, Our Lady of Fatima Girls’ School, The Workers’ Children High School Macau and Escola Dom João Paulino.
