Prof Afonso’s lecture provided valuable insights into contemporary architectural practices and the role of technology in shaping sustainable environments.
Prof. Filipe Afonso, Coordinator of the Bachelor of Architectural Studies at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), presented a lecture titled “Out of Scale” on the 27th of August at the University of Western Australia’s (UWA) School of Design, in Perth. This lecture was part of the UWA’s International Lecture Series.
Representing USJ and the Department of Architecture and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH), Prof. Afonso’s lecture discussed the architectural practice as a challenge of engineering material organisation, and aimed to illuminate the importance of developing a coherent design approach that intersects architecture, sustainability, engineering, and computation.
