The USJ School of Education (SED) and the Office for Student and Alumni Affairs (OSAA) commemorated World Autism Awareness Day on 2 April.
On the 2nd of April 2025, the University of Saint Joseph’s (USJ) School of Education (SED), in collaboration with the Office for Student and Alumni Affairs (OSAA), commemorated World Autism Awareness Day with an initiative to promote understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Students engaged with promotional and awareness-raising materials designed to educate them about this important day. A highlight of the campaign was a specially created comic by a student from the Master of Education (Special Needs and Inclusive Education) program. The comic utilised art and an accessible narrative to explain ASD and promote the concept of neurodiversity, with the hope of fostering greater understanding and acceptance among young people in Macau.
In line with the United Nations’ establishment of World Autism Awareness Day in 2007 to encourage early identification and early intervention, SED aims to garner even greater support for its initiatives in the coming year. The school strives to create a more inclusive environment and promote the well-being of all students.
