School-based Inclusive Education Course of USJ Teachers’ Professional Development Centre Commences

The Teachers’ Professional Development Centre launched its first school-based Inclusive Education Course at Colégio Diocesano de São José 3 on April 1st, 2023.
On April 1st, 2023, the Teachers’ Professional Development Centre launched its first school-based Inclusive Education Course at Colégio Diocesano de São José 3. The course aims to enhance in-service teachers’ understanding of inclusive education, enable them to recognize the growth characteristics and learning needs of different types of special students, and explore strategies for supporting students with special needs in the classroom. It also covers the challenges faced by parents of special students and ways to establish effective home-school communication.
The 36-hour course attracted teachers from six schools and comprises ten study units and six hours of school visits. Professor Frances Lai Mui Lee from the School of Education leads the course, and the teaching team includes experts in inclusive and special education from Macao and Hong Kong, namely Professor Ho Fuk Chuen, Dr. Tong Chi Man, Dr. Flora Ip, and Ms. Jesmond Fan. Professor Rochelle Ge, Dean of the School of Education, and Principal Ng Teng Chio of CDSJ 1-4 were present to encourage the participants.
