On 8th March, Prof. Susannah Sun and Ms. Cao Jiyue from the School of Education (SED) participated in the “Establishment Ceremony and First Academic Forum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Higher Education Teacher Education Alliance” as representatives of USJ.
On 8th March, Prof. Susannah Sun and Ms. Cao Jiyue Phoebe, from the School of Education (SED) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) participated in the “Establishment Ceremony and First Academic Forum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Higher Education Teacher Education Alliance” as representatives of USJ.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Higher Education Teacher Education Alliance is spearheaded by South China Normal University, the Education University of Hong Kong and the University of Macau. It is committed to leveraging the educational advantages and teacher education characteristics of universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to enhance the level of teacher education cooperation among higher education institutes in the Greater Bay Area, so as to further promote the education of higher education teachers in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Exchanges and collaborations in the field of education, as well as the co-construction and sharing of resources, will jointly contribute to promoting the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area.
Guests who delivered speeches at the ceremony included Vice-President of South China Normal University Yang Chengwei, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Human Development at The Education University of Hong Kong Professor Bruce Macfarlane, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Education at University of Macau Professor Mingming Zhou, the Secretariat of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Universities Alliance and the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of Sun Yat-sen University Deputy Director Gu Wenli, and Director Li Jinjun of the Exchange Partnership Office (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office) of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education.
After the ceremony, the first academic forum was organised by the School of Education of South China Normal University, the Faculty of Education at University of Macau, and the Faculty of Education and Human Development at the Education University of Hong Kong. 16 scholars from the alliance member universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao discussed “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Teacher Education Cooperation Development” to explore and share experiences.
During the meeting that day, Prof. Susannah Sun engaged in in-depth discussions with several representatives from participating universities on topics such as academic research and talent development, laying the foundation for broader collaboration in the future.
