USJ and Saint Louis College Bangkok signs MOU and Explores Initiatives in Healthcare Education and Psychology

USJ signs MOU with Saint Louis College in Bangkok, Thailand, committing to create a future where quality healthcare education and research serve as cornerstones for healthier, more resilient communities.



A delegation of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao recently visited Saint Louis College (SLC) in Bangkok, Thailand, to discuss collaboration opportunities on 13th March, 2024. During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the President of Saint Louis College, Dr. Kamolwan Bhekanan, and the Rector of USJ, Rev’d Prof. Stephen Morgan. 

This MOU signifies a shared vision between USJ and SLC to advance healthcare education and research capabilities. With a special focus on Psychology, the collaboration aims to pool resources, expertise, and academic excellence to foster innovations that can lead to significant improvements in healthcare delivery and mental health services. Both institutions are committed to creating a future where quality healthcare education and research serve as cornerstones for healthier, more resilient communities. Prof. Vitor Teixeira, Head of the Department of Psychology at USJ’s Faculty of Health Sciences, also visited SLC last summer to explore joint online courses that will facilitate global collaboration and cross-cultural understanding to enrich the educational experience of students. 

Also present at the signing ceremony were Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, USJ’s Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, SLC Professors Dr. Oraphun Lueboonthavatchai, Vice-President of Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Jintana Artsanthia, President for Development and Foreign Relations, Dr. Chukiat Chakchaichon, Dean of Faculty of Psychology, with members of the Executive Council, Deans from Faculty of Nursing and Physical Therapy, Directors of different offices and members of the Faculty of Psychology.

Saint Louis College was first established in 1985 as a Nursing college with the objective of developing nursing education effectively and continuing the mission of higher education institutions in terms of teaching, research, academic services to society, and promotion of art and culture. They are the first educational institution in Thailand and the first nursing college in the world to be accredited with international quality system ISO 9002, and currently offer degree programmes in Nursing, Psychology and Physical Therapy.
