USJ Continues to Excel in Quality Education in THE Impact Rankings 2024

The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) has once again demonstrated its commitment to sustainable development, achieving excellent results in the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.
For the fourth consecutive year, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) has been included in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, one of the most important global ranking for higher education institutes, which evaluates universities’ social impact and contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s THE Impact Rankings featured 2,152 universities from 125 countries and regions, a remarkable 35.26% increase compared to the previous year.
USJ was ranked on a total of 10 SDGs, including SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), SDG 16 (Peace and Justice Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for Goal Achievement).
Notably, USJ remains the highest ranked institution in Macao for SDG 4 (Quality Education), performing above the global median. The university also demonstrated strong results in SDG 5 (Gender Equality), reflecting its commitment to promoting fair, inclusive and equal opportunities for all individuals.
The Rector of USJ, Revd. Prof. Stephen Morgan commented that it was good to see USJ remain in the upper half of the rankings, even though the number of universities has increased so dramatically over the last three years.
The continuous progress shown in the THE Impact Rankings 2024 results underscores USJ’s alignment with its Catholic mission and its commitment to making a positive impact in the world and in education.

USJ continua a destacar-se na Educação de Qualidade no ranking THE Impact Rankings 2024
A Universidade de São José (USJ) foi classificada na lista do Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings pelo quarto ano consecutivo. O THE Impact Rankings é um dos rankings internacionais mais importantes para instituições de ensino superior, onde se avalia o impacto social das universidades e as suas contribuições para os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) das Nações Unidas. A edição deste ano do THE Impact Rankings contou com a participação de 2.152 universidades de 125 países e regiões, um aumento notável de 35,26% em relação ao ano anterior.
A USJ foi classificado num total de 10 ODS, incluindo o ODS 1 (Erradicar a Pobreza), ODS 3 (Saúde de Qualidade), ODS 4 (Educação de Qualidade), ODS 5 (Igualdade de Género), ODS 8 (Trabalho Digno e Crescimento Económico), ODS 10 (Reduzir as Desigualdades), ODS 11 (Cidades e Comunidades Sustentáveis), ODS 14 (Proteger a Vida Marinha), ODS 16 (Paz, Justiça e Instituições Eficazes) e ODS 17 (Parcerias para a Implementação dos Objetivos).
Em particular, a USJ continua a ser a instituição de Macau mais bem classificada no ODS 4 (Educação de Qualidade), com um resultado acima da mediana global. A universidade também demonstrou bons resultados no ODS 5 (Igualdade de Género), reflectindo o seu empenho em promover oportunidades justas, inclusivas e iguais para todos os indivíduos.
O Reitor da USJ, Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan, comentou com satisfação o facto de a USJ se manter na metade superior da classificação global, apesar de o número de universidades ter aumentado drasticamente nos últimos três anos.
O progresso contínuo demonstrado nos resultados do THE Impact Rankings 2024 realça o posicionamento da USJ em relação à sua missão católica e o seu compromisso de exercer impacto positivo no mundo e na educação.
