USJ held 2022/2023 USJ Community Scholarships and Fellowships Award Ceremony at the Auditório Centenário de Fátima of Ilha Verde Campus on 27th October, 2022.
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) held its 2022/2023 USJ Community Scholarships and Fellowships Award Ceremony at the Auditório Centenário de Fátima of Ilha Verde Campus on 27th October, 2022. A total of 74 scholarships and fellowships were donated by different organisations and individuals, with the amount exceeding MOP 2,900,000.
The ceremony this year kick off with a seminar on “Youth x Greater Bay Area x Foreign Business” given by Ms. Chan Keng Hong, Echo, Former Executive Director of Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Vice-President of AECLC – Business Association for Cooperation between Liposphere and China, Advisor of Portuguese Speaking Countries Markets Committee of Macau Industrial and Commerce Association and she has been working as an international investment consultant. Ms. Chan was invited to be the speaker in this session and was facilitate by Prof. Jenny Lao Phillips, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) of USJ.
Ms. Chan not only shared her opinion on prospective career development opportunities of young people and foreign businesses situations in Macao and the Greater Bay Area with the audiences, but also how students can prepare themselves for career development in Macao and the Greater Bay Area. This seminar deepened the understanding of the stakeholders on the future development in Macao and the Greater Bay Area.
Carlos Roberto Xavier; Head of the Division of Quality Assurance, DSEDJ and Representatives from USJ’s Community Scholarships and Fellowships donors were present at the ceremony, including (listed alphabetically): Alumni Association of the University of Saint Joseph (AAUSJ), Banco Nacional Ultramarino S.A., Bank of China Macau Branch, British Chamber of Commerce in Macao, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM), CPM – Macau Parking Company Ltd., Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM), Companhia de Telecomunicações de Macau (CTM), China Daily, China Telecom, Education Fund, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Henry Fok Foundation, Mr. Lucas Lo, Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Center, Sands China Ltd., Ms. Sio Wai Chu.
In order to foster inclusiveness, fairness and respectful diversity in the community of the University, USJ is committed to its international identity which cultivates a diversity of cultures in higher education in Macau and promotes cross-cultural experiences among Macao‘s younger population. This year, in order to attract foreign talents to Macao and local talents to study at USJ. USJ offered full scholarships for Students of Master Degree Programmes from the Portuguese speaking countries and ASEAN countries while four full scholarships covering the tuition fees of undergraduate studies up to four years were offered to four high school graduates.

The USJ Community Scholarships and Fellowships Award Ceremony takes place annually aiming to recognize our students’ academic achievements and the contributions of the donors. It is not only an event that encourages students with financial difficulties but also an opportunity for USJ to show gratitude to the scholarship and fellowship donors for their generosity.
