USJ Hosts UbiMus 2024: 14th International Conference | Exploring the Intersection of Music and Technology in Macao

The University of Saint Joseph organised UbiMus 2024 MACAO, an international conference on Ubiquitous Music.



From October 31 to November 2, 2024, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao, organised the UbiMus 2024 Macao 14th International Conference, an Interdisciplinary conference at the crossroads of music, computer science, education, creativity studies, human sciences and engineering. The format of UbiMus 2024 Macao is a conference with international keynote speakers, technical sessions, workshops, concerts, discussion panels and an exhibition of installation arts.

The UbiMus 2024 Macao call for papers received 25 submissions from more than 10 countries, including Asia to Europe, and South America. These contributions spanned a wide range of topics, related to music and artificial intelligence, ecological and environmental concerns, spatial audio as well as inclusivity. It also included four live music performances and one workshop related to Ambisonics framework.

The UbiMus 2024 Macao conference also featured OTTOsonics, a groundbreaking collaborative open-source DIY Ambisonics system developed through a partnership with the University of Arts, Linz (Austria). This innovative initiative seeks to make immersive audio formats more accessible and usable for sound artists, performance artists, cultural institutions, educational organizations, and the broader arts community.

Photos and videos of the event will be posted on the conference website in the coming week, including all academic presentations and extracts of concerts. Finally, the Book of Proceedings will also be published on Zenodo and a link will be provided on the conference website.
